A federal court in Washington this Friday sentenced to: Steve Bannonwho was an advisor to the former president of the United States Donald Trumpup to four months in prison for refusing to cooperate with the Legislative commission investigating the attack on the Capitol from January 6, 2021.
Judge Carl Nichols He has also accepted the US prosecutor’s request to pay Bannon a fine, although he has reduced the amount to $6,500, compared to the 200,000 requested by the Justice Department.
In fact, the prosecution demanded six months in prison for the far-right in addition to the fine, while Bannon’s defense requested that his client serve the sentence under house arrest.

Nichols advised defense attorneys before deciding that Bannon must remain behind bars for at least a month.
Last July, Bannon was found guilty by a jury of refusing to appear before the legislative commission considering the Capitol attack and provide them with some documents.
In addition to this case, Bannon faces another lawsuit in New York for alleged fraud in a fundraising campaign to help build a… border wall with mexico. In this case, he is charged with two serious crimes of: money laundering, two conspiracy charges and a serious one to plan to commit fraud.
