Syrian sources say Israel shelled the capital Damascus on Friday. The Defense Ministry said several missiles had been intercepted. Israeli missiles are also said to have been intercepted in the south of the country.
According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, Israeli attacks also targeted military installations near Damascus International Airport.
