Britain’s ex-Prime Minister Boris Johnson is apparently poised to run for office again at the top of the government. His return home should now support that.
The 58-year-old took a scheduled flight to London in the Dominican Republic on Friday, as a local Sky News reporter noted. The British Airways plane landed at Gatwick Airport on Saturday morning.
Some votes for return
According to a party member, Johnson would like to succeed Liz Truss, who stepped down on Thursday after only six weeks in office. Conservative MP James Duddridge said on Friday evening that Johnson said he was “ready” and wanted to flee.
Several media outlets had previously reported that Johnson was interested in running for office. Some cabinet members have already spoken out in favor of the return of the scandal politician.
Johnson resigned in July after enormous pressure over an affair over parties in the government seat during the corona lockdown. The timing of Johnson’s long-haul journey, which he has now completed, had sparked criticism, as the House of Commons meets and Johnson remains a standing MP.
