Kherson evacuated – Russia spreads ‘dirty bomb’ rumors

Date:

It was only shortly after the civilian population of the eastern Ukrainian city of Kherson was asked to leave the city “immediately” that the rumor of a possible nuclear bomb was once again circulating. However, Kiev would now be planning such an operation. Meanwhile, Russia awaits a symbolic defeat.

Specifically, it would be a false flag operation, as the Russian state news agency Ria Novosti announced in an explosive report – the agency, like all Russian state media, is known for spreading disinformation and propaganda.

Ukraine is said to be planning to detonate a so-called dirty bomb on its own territory, which could lead to Russia being accused of using weapons of mass destruction.

Does Ukraine even have nuclear weapons?
Ukraine had the third largest nuclear arsenal in the world during Soviet times, but had no operational control over the arsenal because Russia had the activation codes needed to use the nuclear weapons. By 1996, all nuclear weapons from the former Soviet Union had been brought to Russia – so there have been no nuclear weapons in Ukraine since then.

The agency provides no concrete evidence for the alleged plan: Kiev has already covered the “practical implementation of the plan”. The Kiev Institute for Nuclear Research and a company near Dnipro are said to have been commissioned to produce the “dirty bomb” and the work is “in its final stages,” speculates Ria Novosti. However, international military experts consider this statement to be implausible.

Use of atomic bombs not excluded
Recently, the nuclear threats in the Ukraine conflict had calmed down quite a bit. Since the beginning of the war of aggression, Russia has repeatedly tried to put pressure on Ukraine and its allies in this way. Such threatening gestures are also taken very seriously, as the actual use of so-called strategic nuclear weapons cannot be ruled out.

Russia awaits symbolic defeat
Russia is also currently in a very difficult situation. Apparently Ukraine is making further attempts to retake the occupied Kherson region, that is, the area Russia was able to take first in February. Losing Kherson would also be a symbolic defeat for Putin. The Russian government already announced the evacuation of the city on Saturday – according to secret services, a bomb attack on a dam that could flood the region is imminent.

Meanwhile, the Russian propaganda machine is running at full speed, the population is currently being prepared for “very difficult weeks”. In addition, the Russian army had to admit the desolate situation in eastern Ukraine. With the rumor of the possible use of a nuclear weapon, one could try to stop the advance of Ukraine.
