The training has started again: from October 24 to November 4, 2022, the Eurofighter pilots of the armed forces will perform interception maneuvers in the supersonic range. Two supersonic flights are scheduled per day, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
The flights cover almost the entire federal territory – with the exception of metropolitan areas and the federal states of Tyrol and Vorarlberg. To keep the noise level as low as possible, we fly at great heights. The pilots practice flying at supersonic speed under real physical stress, this cannot be seen in the simulator.
“This training is essential to our Air Force. Especially in times when war is being waged in Europe, it is important to have effective air surveillance. For this purpose, flying at supersonic speed and associated airspace surveillance scenarios should also be practiced,” Defense Secretary Klaudia Tanner said.
