Propaganda Video – Kadyrov’s Sons “Give” Dad Prisoners of War

Date:

Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov is notorious for his brutality and known for his flamboyant propaganda performances. Now Putin’s vassal has presented a video showing three of his sons presenting Ukrainian prisoners of war to their father as “gifts”.

According to the clip published on Ramzan Kadyrov’s Telegram channel, his sons Achmad, Eli and Adam Kadyrov returned to the Chechen capital of Grozny after an “eventful journey to the Donbass”. Then three tied men, described as “neutralized” Ukrainian soldiers, are brought before the Chechen ruler and presented by Kadyrov’s sons.

“Modern slavery”
The prisoners are called “gift”. According to research by RTL/ntv, the three men are actually members of the Ukrainian armed forces.
“If this isn’t theater, it’s real life, then that’s modern slavery,” analyst Alex Kokcharov said of the clip on Twitter.

Kadyrov claimed on Telegram that he had spoken to the detainees and was informed that they “had received no provisions or full armament”. “You only get a submachine gun and four rounds of ammunition. They say there are no plans, only the complete demoralization of the staff,” he wrote. The video was released on Thursday by the Chechen ruler, but it is unclear when it was recorded.

Sons must ‘experience real battle’
In early October, the 45-year-old announced that he would send his three sons, ages 14, 15 and 16 to the front to fight alongside Russian troops. It is time for them to witness a real battle, he wrote on Telegram on Oct. 3.
Russia has signed a UN agreement that states that young people under the age of 18 should not participate in hostilities. Allowing children under the age of 15 to fight is also considered a war crime by the International Criminal Court. However, Russia does not recognize this.

ardent supporter of war
It is unclear whether Kadyrov’s sons actually took part in acts of war. Some observers scoffed that Chechen fighters are more likely to appear in social media propaganda videos than on the front lines. Ramzan Kadyrov has been one of the most ardent supporters of Putin’s war since the invasion began and often shares propaganda videos of alleged successes.

After setbacks to troops loyal to Moscow, he criticized Russia’s military leadership. After massive Russian missile attacks on Ukraine in mid-October, he defended the attacks in retaliation for the explosion on the Crimean Bridge. Now he is “100 percent satisfied with the conduct of the special military operation,” he said.

Ramzan Kadyrov has 12 children with his first wife, he is said to have up to three wives and possibly other offspring. In 2020, he appointed his daughter Aishat Kadyrova as Deputy Minister of Culture of Chechnya. The delegation with which his sons traveled to the war zone was also under her leadership, according to the video.
