Hurricane Roslyn has claimed two lives in Mexico. “Roslyn” caused flooding and landslides, downed trees and utility poles, and caused damage to buildings and roads. The states of Nayarit and Jalisco were the hardest hit.
On the lagoon island of Mexcaltitán in Nayarit state, an 80-year-old man died on Sunday when his house collapsed as a result of the storm, the fire service said.
Another fatality from the storm fell in the village of Rosamorada in Nayarit, according to a regional official.
According to the US National Hurricane Center (NHC), “Roslyn” struck the Pacific coast of Mexico as a Category 3 hurricane on Sunday with winds of 195 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 150 miles per hour.
As a result, the cyclone weakened to a tropical storm as it moved northeast. Maximum wind speeds dropped to 55 kilometers per hour.
The tropical cyclone season begins on May 15 in the Pacific Ocean and on June 1 in the Atlantic Ocean. It ends on November 30 in both regions.
