According to Ukrainian sources, seven ships carrying grain are on their way to Asia and Europe. The ships with a total of 124,300 tons of grain left the ports of Odessa, Chornomorsk and Pivdennji, which were only 25 to 30 percent full.
The ships include a United Nations chartered World Food Program (UN) ship carrying 40,000 tons of wheat to Yemen.
“It is very important that today the sixth food ship, chartered under the United Nations World Food Program, has left our port,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in his evening video address.
He had previously complained that Moscow would (repeatedly) hinder grain exports (see video above). Russia would block full implementation of the agreement.
“As a result, these ports have only been used at 25 to 30 percent of their capacity in recent days,” the Ukrainian Ministry of Infrastructure said.
