Climate activists of the “last generation” blocked car traffic at the Praterstern in Vienna-Leopoldstadt on Monday morning. Several protesters stuck to the road. A driver panicked and attacked an activist…
As is often the case at the beginning of the week, shortly before 8 a.m. some environmental activists of the “last generation” get their hands on the asphalt for the lanes on the Praterstern. According to the broadcast, they called for “sensible austerity measures” by the federal government against inflation and the climate crisis – “especially 100 km/h on the autobahn”.
Driver in panic
The illegal roadblock caused a lot of traffic jams at the busy traffic junction. A driver would then have a “blown fuse”, according to a video from a witness.
Suddenly the angry man approached from the vehicles. First he tore a banner from the hands of the activists. The man then swung back and punched a woman sitting on the sidewalk.
“scratch on face”
The director arrived after the incident. Police spokesman Markus Dittrich confirmed to krone.at that there was a report of the assault. However, the unknown attacker has not yet been identified. “The person concerned suffered a scratch on his face,” said Dittrich. There are also plenty of witnesses.
