The intervals of public transport in Vienna will be partially extended from 3 November outside the morning rush hour. As Wiener Linien announced on Monday, an adjusted timetable will apply from 3 November for eleven of the 28 tram lines and nine of the 131 bus lines. There are currently no changes planned for the metros.
The range of interval stretching for trams and buses is in the range of 15 seconds to a maximum of 40 seconds. When trains are unscheduled, there can be intervals of up to 30 minutes. “This can be prevented with this measure, although short-term outages – especially due to unforeseen corona developments – cannot be completely ruled out,” says Wiener Linien.
“Personal Challenges”
The reason for the measure is the tense labor market: “Like many other sectors, the generational change and the associated tense situation on the labor market also present Wiener Linien with major personnel challenges.
The public transport company has long been preparing for the wave of retirement and is taking various measures to make jobs attractive,” the company said.
