Armando Martínez has also been appointed director of Iberdrola, with the qualification of executive, through the co-option procedure and on the proposal of the nomination committee. For example, it covers the vacancy resulting from the departure of Francisco Martínez Córcoles from his position as director; Martínez Córcoles has made his position available to the Board of Directors to facilitate changes in the company’s governance.
Sánchez Galán is thus no longer CEO of Iberdrola, a position he has held since 2001, and will remain as chairman, a responsibility he assumed in 2006, replacing Íñigo de Oriol.
