The Corona autumn wave continues to decrease in Austria. 5,950 new infections were registered in Austria on Monday. This is below the average of the past seven days with 7,826 new cases. A week ago, the number of new infections was 8,970 new cases. The seven-day incidence dropped from 644.9 to 606.8 cases per 100,000 population within 24 hours. The number of hospital patients also decreased.

As of Tuesday morning, 2108 people with SARS-CoV-2 will be in hospital. That is 46 patients less than the day before. 105 people had to be treated in intensive care. That number has fallen by 14 since yesterday and by 15 patients in a week. The number of actively infected persons also decreased from 4,249 to a total of 82,097 active cases.

23 other deaths were recorded. The Covid 19 pandemic has claimed 20,922 lives in Austria since its outbreak. There have been 5,408,648 confirmed corona cases in Austria since the start of the pandemic. 5,305,629 people have recovered since the outbreak of the epidemic.

The state with the highest seven-day incidence is currently Upper Austria with 665.3, followed by Lower Austria, Burgenland and Carinthia (662.4, 656 and 651.6 respectively). Then come Styria (619), Vienna (563.4), Tyrol (539.6), Salzburg (521.4) and Vorarlberg (471.7).

Highest protection level in Burgenland
However, Upper Austria is also the province with the lowest protection level and is in the rear with 53.8 percent. The protection rate is highest in Burgenland at 65.5 percent. In Lower Austria, 61.2 percent of the population has a basic vaccination, in Styria 59.2 percent. After Vienna (56.1), Carinthia (55.2), Tyrol (55.2), Vorarlberg (55.1), Salzburg (54.1) follows. On Monday 11,636 vaccinations were carried out, of which 10,630 booster vaccinations (4th, 5th and each subsequent vaccination dose). 5,219,681 people and thus 57.8 percent of Austrians are validly vaccinated according to the recommendation of the National Vaccination Commission (NIG).

The data reflects what happens between midnight and midnight of the respective event day before wider.
