Arrest imposed – inferno supermarket: suspect (21) known

The fire caused an equal amount of commotion and speculation in the media last weekend. Even a possible arson at the supermarket was suspected, in which case the car would have been set on fire and used as an incendiary agent. The imprisoned 21-year-old – he was arrested in Deutsch-Wagram (Gänserndorf district), narcotics and illegal weapons were found on him during a search – will probably deny that. According to his version, the fire should have been aimed at the vehicle reported as stolen and not at the store.

It is certain that the car crashed into the supermarket for unknown reasons and that the occupants – four young men – were unharmed. The background of the crime is still open, and the police are fully investigating. However, it cannot be ruled out that it was an accident. The occupants are said to have panicked because the car was stolen and set on fire to make it disappear. In this version, the fire would have spread unintentionally to the supermarket, as it were.

Clarifying the correct procedure is the task of fire experts and detectives with forensics. Recently, the police had identified a second suspect. However, no arrest warrant was issued against the 21-year-old, who initially exercised his right to remain silent. It is not yet clear whether the police are on the trail of the other occupants of the vehicle.
