The gate in Königsdorf in Burgenland was open when Laszlo Lengyel wanted to place a freshly printed copy on the newspaper roll. The delivery man suffered a bruised wrist from a dog bite.
Like every night for five years, Laszlo Lengyel’s alarm went off at 12:30 on October 1. Freshen up, get dressed and the service as a newspaper deliverer could begin. The 61-year-old got into his car, picked up the freshly printed copies and set out on the usual tour of the Jennersdorf neighborhood.
Of course, after such a long activity, the routine directs, that is, process one subscriber after another. It is therefore not surprising that at 3:30 am he stopped in front of a house in Königsdorf without much thought to put the newspaper as usual on the roll attached to the fence to the courtyard.
