Unknowns committed an attack on a planned refugee shelter in Saxony on Friday morning. The fire broke out in the “Spreehotel” after the perpetrators smashed windows, according to the National Criminal Investigation Department in Dresden. Four people who stayed in the house were unharmed. The fire brigade extinguished the fire.
The Police Counter-Terrorism and Extremism Center (PTAZ) in the LKA Saxony has taken over the investigation. The National Criminal Investigation Department was initially unable to provide information about the damage. The building has been cordoned off over a large area.
It is the second arson at a refugee shelter in Germany this month. A reception center for Ukrainian refugees recently burned down in the northeastern German state of Mecklenburg-West Pomerania.
