Johnson fined for partying in Downing Street during pandemic

British Prime Minister, Boris Johnsonand his Minister of Economic Affairs, Rishi Sunakwill be fined for participating in take down street parties as restrictions due to the pandemic were in place, a spokeswoman for the head of government confirmed this Tuesday.

The London Metropolitan Police (Met) has reported that it has already imposed more than 50 sanctions on employees of the Government for violating anti-covid regulations.

“The Prime Minister and the Economy Minister received reports today that the Metropolitan Police plans to fine them,” the Executive’s spokeswoman told the press.

Investigating security forces 12 parties and social events, both in Downing Street and other government buildings, including at least three that the Prime Minister may have attended.

Labor leader calls for his resignation

The Leader of the Opposition, Labor Keir Starmerhas demanded after learning that both Johnson and Sunak should be fined that both “must resign” for breaking the law and “repeatedly lying to the British”.

“The Conservatives are totally discredited to govern. The UK deserves better,” Starmer wrote on Twitter.

At the end of January, the senior official Sue Gray posted a partial report on the parties during the pandemic in which he criticized the “lack of leadership” in the Executive for not avoiding social gatherings when the British population was subject to strict restrictions.

He also drew attention to the “excessive alcohol consumption” in Downing Street, in a document only partially revealing his investigations so as not to disrupt the ongoing police investigation.
