Great excitement in Burgenland: a fan attacked a player during a football match in the 2nd division south between ASKÖ Jabing and SV Heiligenkreuz!
After a battle of words, a spectator jumped over the fence in the 89th minute and “grabbed the Heiligenkreuz goalkeeper by the throat”, confirms sporting director Markus Jost.
The 33-year-old was red but not injured. The match in Jabing (Oberwart district) was cancelled.
It has not yet been decided whether a report will be filed. The incident happened when the score was 4-0 to Jabing.
How the match will be scored will be decided at the next meeting of the Penal, Control, Reporting and Certification Committee (STRUMA) of the Burgenland Football Association.
