After an 11-year-old boy was found dead on a riverbank in Marseille, the boy’s mother confessed to killing him. The 39-year-old woman admitted to hitting her child at home and then killing her by the river with a kitchen knife, Marseille prosecutors said Sunday night.
The mother stated that she could no longer handle the boy’s attacks. According to French media, the child was autistic.
The woman reported her son missing on Friday. He ran away during a walk. The initial investigation has now revealed that the mother had already killed her child before the missing person was reported.
Body found with stab wounds
The child’s father and uncle found his body with stab wounds on the banks of the Huveaune in eastern Marseille on Saturday. The mother has been in custody since Saturday evening. She is due to appear in court on Monday.
