The Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa presented the design this Monday general budgets for 2023which proposes its own budget of 1,129.4 million euros, 87.6 million more than in 2022, which means: 8.41% more. The deputy general of Gipuzkoa, Markel Olano, has commented that this is the “largest budget in history” of the formal institution.
As he emphasized, these budgets are “social, investment and sustainable”. In the social field, there are the “most social accounts in history to protect the most vulnerable people in the current situation” and they mean assigning to every citizen “for the first time above 700 euros in social policy”.
In economic terms, the goal is “protect the economic fabric and consolidate the foundations of the economy of the future with a budget of an investment character” and “double the commitment to sustainability, the fight against climate change and the transition to a more sustainable social and economic model”.
Olano has appeared together with the Regional Commissioner for Environment and Hydraulic Engineering, José Ignacio Asensio, and the Regional Commissioner for Finance and Finance, Jokin Perona, to report on the regional budget project for the next budget year.
The proposal was approved by the Board of Directors of the Diputación and at 12:00 it was handed over to the Chairman of the General Assemblies of Gipuzkoa, Xabier Ezeizabarrena. The project will be discussed in the Provincial Chamber, first in committee, then through amendments and finally in plenary session. The process will take approximately two months and the provincial accounts are forecast to receive final approval from the boards before 2023. Before the end of the year.
Olano wanted to send a message of “confidence and calm” “in the face of uncertainties”, noting that “in the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council we have done our homework and are prepared”.
