Suddenly, a shot was fired – soon after, the police rushed to a multi-storey apartment building in Vienna-Floridsdorf. There was a wild family feud that eventually escalated bloody.
According to police spokesman Daniel Fürst, a 48-year-old got into a violent argument with his partner and their children at the home in Schwarzlackenau around 10 p.m., the police reported on Sunday. The argument was first conducted in person, then from floor to floor via Whatsapp, because the partner had withdrawn to avoid the man.
Suddenly, the 48-year-old, who was also apparently drunk, grabbed a gun. The Austrian citizen thus threatened the remaining opponents. His partner’s 25-year-old daughter was not intimidated and tried to knock the gun out of the 48-year-old’s hand.
Suspect arrested, weapon seized
A shot went off and hit the man in the foot. The next of kin fled and alerted the emergency services. “Alarmed Viennese police forces were able to arrest the suspect and secure the alleged murder weapon,” the director said.
The 48-year-old was taken to hospital after first aid. His life was not in danger, the director said.
