Late Tuesday morning, a serious traffic accident occurred on the B 320 in Schladming (Styria) in which a 65-year-old motorist was fatally injured. The road had to be closed for several hours.
For a previously unknown reason, the 65-year-old driver turned right into the oncoming lane in the Schladming bypass area. He collided head-on with an oncoming truck.
As a result of the violent collision, the car turned 180 degrees before coming to a stop. The emergency services of the Schladming Fire Department had to free the heavily trapped motorist during a grueling rescue operation.
However, the 65-year-old was fatally injured in the collision. The 38-year-old truck driver from the St. Johann im Pongau district was taken to the Diakonissen Schladming clinic with minor injuries. The accident caused the B320 to be completely blocked for several hours.
