The National Court is investigating 8 former ETA leaders for an attack committed in Sangüesa in 2003

The National Court has admitted that it has processed the complaint filed by the Dignity and Justice association to reopen the investigation into the murder of two police officers in the Navarrese town of Sangüesa.

National Supreme Court Justice Alejandro Abascal investigates eight former ETA leaders -who ended his armed activity in 2011 and was disbanded in 2018- for allegedly ordering the attack that killed two national police officers in Sanguesa on May 30, 2003, as well as the two suspected material authors of the placement of the explosive that ended their lives.

In a car, to which the EFE office had access, the head of the Central Court of Instruction No. 1 decided to start these investigations by admitting the association’s complaint. Dignity and Justice with the statement that the one in Sangüesa was the first of a campaign of 18 “random” attacks with the explosive Titadine.

The two alleged material authors of the Sangüesa attack are said to be Garikoitz Arruarte Santa Cruz and Gorka Loran Lafourcade, according to the indictment.

Likewise, the complaint is directed against the people who were then members of the ETA leadership: Ibon Fernández Iradi, ‘Susper’; Gorka Palacios Alday; Garikoitz Aspiazu Rubina, ‘Txeroki’; Aitzol Iriondo Yarza; Felix Ignacio Esparza Luri; Mikel Albisu Iriarte, ‘Antza’; Ramon Sagarzazu Gaztelumendi; and Marisol Iparragirre, ‘Anboto’.
