There was a major police operation on World Savings Day in the Innviertel in Upper Austria because an overly pushy knife seller had robbed a pensioner.
On Monday, two previously unknown perpetrators chased a 72-year-old motorist from the Braunau district who was on his way to Pischelsdorf am Engelbach. He parked his car in a parking lot around 9 a.m. As the driver got out of the car, he was surprised by a man he didn’t know who very aggressively tried to sell him knife sets. The 72-year-old rejected this purchase agreement.
Victim drove to the bank
The perpetrator is said to have put five sets of knives in the car and demanded money from the 72-year-old. The harassed victim gave the perpetrator money and his watch. Because of this, the perpetrator may have asked for more money from the man, so the 72-year-old drove to a bank in Feldkirchen near Mattighofen to withdraw money. After the victim left the bank, he noticed that the perpetrators were no longer there and had fled in a car with French number plates.
Daughter warned the police
The victim’s daughter then alerted the police, who started a search for the perpetrators and the car. So far this has not been successful. The victim was not injured during the incident. After completion of the investigation, a report will be made to the public prosecutor on suspicion of coercion, theft and fraud.
