A day after Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva was elected president, Jair Bolsonaro remains silent as Brazil remains half paralyzed by hundreds roadblocks orchestrated from across the country by truck drivers who do not accept the defeat of the far-right leader.

Lula won Sunday’s election with 50.9% of the vote, compared to Bolsonaro’s 49.1% and 24 hours after the final results were announced, the current president, who was seeking reelection, has not yet spoken about the election results. This silence by the president keeps the country and the world in suspense as the far-right leader during the campaign threatened to accept the results of the polls only if he believed the elections had been transparent.
