It is not the first time that unknown perpetrators commit their burglaries with corrosive acid. But the incidents in Vienna are currently on the rise again. The police warn! Because nitric acid must not be touched, there is otherwise a risk of burns to the skin, respiratory tract and mucous membranes.
The Viennese police are well aware of the modus operandi: criminals enter apartments using corrosive acid (see photos above). The administration is already at full speed investigating the perpetrators.
Neutralize the body part with clear water!
The chemicals used in burglary may be nitric acid. This can have a corrosive effect on the skin, respiratory tract and mucous membranes. “If there is accidental contact with the liquid, neutralize the body area immediately with clean water,” recommends the Vienna police. Soap or other additives must not be used!
You are also requested to immediately call the police emergency number 133.
