Terrible traffic accident Wednesday evening in the Tyrolean Oberland: In Mieming (Imst district), an 83-year-old local man drove his car off the road and fell about 60 meters down a steep slope. All help came too late for the man. He died at the scene of the accident.
The terrible accident took place shortly before 6:30 p.m. in the town of Barwies in the municipality of Mieming. According to police, the pensioner was driving on a municipal road when his car suddenly went over the right side of the road for unknown reasons.

“The car then fell approximately 50 to 60 meters down a steep embankment before striking the side of a tree and coming to a stop,” police said. The 83-year-old driver was seriously injured. “Despite immediate resuscitation measures, the man died at the scene of the accident,” investigators continued.

The Mieming fire brigade, an emergency doctor, two rescue teams including operational managers, an emergency doctor helicopter, a Red Cross crisis intervention team and a police patrol were present.
