Also because of migrants – Poland builds a fence around the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad

Date:

Poland wants to erect a temporary barrier on the more than 200 kilometer long border with the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad. Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak said the barbed wire was 2.5 meters high and three meters wide. Work would begin immediately.

“It is very important for us that this border is tight,” emphasized the politician from the Law and Justice Party (PiS). Blaszczak justified the move on the one hand with national security. On the other hand, migrants from the Middle East or North Africa would come by plane to Kaliningrad and try to reach EU territory from there.

Additional devices for electronic border monitoring must be installed along the barrier. On the Polish side, a fence is planned in front of the border to protect wild animals. Kaliningrad, formerly East Prussian Königsberg, belongs to Russia and is located on the Baltic Sea between Poland and Lithuania.

Polish President Andrzej Duda supports “all initiatives that lead to greater security in Poland and its citizens,” said a spokesman for the head of state. Last year, Poland had already built a wall along the EU border with Belarus (Belarus). There is no doubt that this would make a “hybrid attack” from Belarusian territory impossible, Blaszczak now stressed.

Explosive: More and more citizens in Poland want to be better prepared for a possible war. A one-day training course offered by the military has already been used by hundreds (see video above).
