Serious traffic accident Wednesday evening in Zirl in Tyrol! A local (24) lost control on a railway viaduct shortly after 5 p.m., ended up in the oncoming lane and landed head-on on a truck. The woman was seriously injured.
The injured had to be extricated from the wreckage by the alarmed fire brigade with rescue scissors. The woman was then taken to the Innsbruck clinic by the rescue service. The 29-year-old truck driver was not injured. “The car was a total loss and the truck sustained significant material damage,” police said.
Zirler Strasse had to be closed to traffic for about two hours for the rescue of the injured, the accident investigation and subsequent clean-up work. It is still unclear why the 24-year-old came into the oncoming lane.
