There is still no trace of Martina R. On Monday, 100 helpers were looking for the woman (53) from Gattendorf in northern Burgenland, including firefighters, soldiers and police students. They stood close together, combing the woods around the birthplace of the missing. Her husband is desperate.
“Please help me, I can’t live without Martina,” says Reinhard R. With each hour that he doesn’t know what happened to his wife, his worries get bigger and bigger. Many nagging questions run through his head.
Martina R. left the house in Gattendorf around 2 a.m. last Saturday. The next morning – as reported – her car was found where she often does yoga or Pilates exercises in the evenings. “Your white Hyundai I10, which was parked at a little-used Leitha Bridge, was not locked. The hat and mobile phone were in the car, the keys were in the center console,” reports the man.
ignorance the worst
To him, everything seems like his wife went to the bridge and wanted to organize her thoughts. The ignorance grips him: “I am so desperate, it breaks my heart every second.”
A large contingent of helpers has been tirelessly on their way since Saturday to search for the missing person. On foot, in a Zille and with a drone from the air, the emergency services had searched the vast nature reserve along the River Leitha kilometer after kilometer. On Monday, 100 firefighters, soldiers and police students will continue the action. Square meter by square meter, the forests around Gattendorf were combed, placed closely together. And on Facebook, the community asked residents to check their garden sheds and tool sheds.
