Euskaraz irakurri: CAFek is a lately contraturik from Herbehereekin; 600 million euros
The Construction and Auxiliary Railway Company (CAF) signed an important contract this Tuesday with the company that manages the suburban and interurban services of the Dutch rail network Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS). to supply its new fleet of double-decker trains intended for intercity services. The contract includes the delivery of 60 trains -30 units of 4 cars and 30 units of 6 cars-, as well as technical support for their maintenance.
The newly signed contract more than 600 million euros. However, the agreement considers the possibility of contracting more units, which would increase the said amount.
In this way, continuity is given to the previous delivery project of 206 SNG-Civity trains for suburban services to one of the leading companies in the European rail sector, such as NS, of which the last units are currently being delivered. Likewise, it is worth noting the relationship of both companies since CAF signed its first contract with NS in 2014.
This new project is in line with the commitment to the European market as one of its priorities, due to the high volume of activities and recurring activities, announced by CAF in its Strategic Plan 2026 last December. This is a very important contract for the company, because it is the first customer will supply double-decker buses from the aforementioned Civity platform.
The first units are expected to be commissioned in 2028 on intercity lines criss-crossing the country, with the option of expanding units and incorporating versions of the train that can make cross-border routes to other countries such as Germany and Belgium.
