In Bavaria, people infected with corona will only have to be in isolation for five days from Wednesday. A final free test is no longer necessary. The condition is a symptom-free period of at least 48 hours. This was announced by Bavarian Health Minister Klaus Holetschek (CSU) on Tuesday.
In addition, the quarantine for close contacts has been completely eliminated. “Still, we call on people to behave responsibly,” said Holetschek. “That means that we therefore recommend wearing a mask for a while after the isolation has ended and reducing contacts.”
Until now, people infected with corona had to be isolated for ten days – free testing was only possible after seven days at the earliest, and for students after five days. The uniform shortening to five days is a consensus between the federal and state governments and was scheduled for May 1. The Bavarian state government is already implementing this.
To protect people at extra risk, stricter rules apply to employees in so-called vulnerable facilities such as hospitals and nursing homes. They are only allowed to return to work after isolation if they can show a negative test result.
