Date:

Emotional reunion in Vienna: After a 40-year-old suddenly collapsed while walking his dog in early June, it was a matter of life or death. A police officer and a firefighter – both off duty – saw the incident and provided first aid. The two eventually save Krystof S.’s life.

S. was walking his four-legged friend on Langobardenstraße on the evening of June 1, when the 40-year-old suddenly collapsed, fell to the ground and lost consciousness. Robert M., a member of the Vienna Professional Fire Service, and Andreas Mann, a local police officer from the Langobardenstrae Police Station, witnessed the collapse and immediately rushed to the rescue.

M. started the heart massage, a little later supported by the police officer. The rescue chain was set in motion, a moment later rescue services, fire brigade and police were also on site. A defibrillator was also used.

The 40-year-old survived. “He is now in good shape mentally and physically and has already been able to personally thank his rescuers,” the police said on Thursday – including a souvenir photo.
