In Haiti, four Caritas camps have been attacked and looted in the past two months. The church aid organization has announced this according to local media in the capital Port-au-Prince, Kathpress writes. The apparently organized looting virtually paralyzed the work on the ground. The damage done is enormous, the connection problems serious. There were no means to continue functioning.
Caritas staff in the affected locations are now working from home and remotely. The organization warns that the violence in Haiti will further delay project implementation. According to the World Food Programme, 4.7 million people currently live with acute food insecurity.
The country is facing a serious internal political crisis. Gang violence and crime have largely taken control of public life.
