Opportunity makes thieves – this old saying came true in the case of an 85-year-old Tyrolean. Her nurse (56) from Romania is said to have repeatedly stolen money from the account and savings book of the elderly lady in need of care. The background that turned the 56-year-old into a thief is tragic.
The brutal thief was caught when the retiree was hospitalized due to an operation and the daughter had to arrange financial transactions for her mother. There was even the embezzlement of more than 41,000 euros in the room. “I kept having to get money from the bank for her,” the defendant justified in court. Because the 85-year-old would have literally lived grandly during this time. “She liked to wear expensive shoes and clothes, liked expensive alcohol and went to the hairdresser every week or had dinner with friends,” emphasized the 56-year-old, who admitted to embezzling 7,610 euros.
Money went to the daughter with a seriously ill child
The motive for the act is more than sad: “My daughter gave birth to a child with signs of paralysis. I know what it is like to have a sick child. I wanted to help her,” the Romanian said through tears.

With a sentence of up to three years in prison, the suspect was fined 1,000 euros. And she has to pay back every cent of the embezzled 7610 euros. The woman immediately accepted the verdict.
