An eyewitness saw a four-legged friend tear up a deer on Friday night in Döbriach in Carinthia and alerted the police. Suspicion soon fell on a wolf.
It was after midnight when the police received a report that a wolfhound was about to kill a deer in Döbriach. The animal was still there when officers arrived. “An exact breed designation could not be carried out, but there was a suspicion that it was a wolf,” police said.
Supposed wolf was neighbor’s dog
For this reason, a former hunter has secured the dead deer in order to arrange a DNA analysis. “However, questioning a local resident revealed that the suspected wolf is a huskey/Australian Shepherd cross and that the owner lives nearby,” said an official.
When the dog’s owner was visited by the police, he stated that he had already missed his mongrel. The man has filed a report.
