Dangerous scenes late Saturday afternoon on the A1 Westautobahn in Upper Austria: an unknown wrong-way driver hit an oncoming vehicle of a Tyrolean between Regau and Schörfling (Vöcklabruck district) around 5.30 p.m. and then made an escape.
According to the police of Upper Austria, the 35-year-old Tyrolean driving towards Salzburg was able to avoid a head-on collision by avoiding the wrong-way driver to the right. However, the two cars collided sideways.
Auto parts lagged on A1
The collision left parts of the wrong-way driver’s car on the road. The ghost driver then drove on.
Manhunt on handlebars
It was a black Audi, probably with a Salzburg-Land (SL) registration. The vehicle was damaged on the left and front sides. The Tyrolean was apparently unharmed. A manhunt for the fugitive driver is underway.
