For the fourth time in this term, EH Bildu and the government of Navarra have reached a budget agreement that will allow for the clearance of the accounts for 2023. According to the spokesman for EH Bildu in the Parliament of Navarre, Bakartxo Ruiz, “It’s not anecdote, it’s not punctual, it’s not coincidental, it responds to a political decision”. He added that both EH Bildu and the government of Navarra have shown their willingness to reach an agreement during these four years.

In a interview awarded to Euskadi Irratia’s “Faktoria” program, the spokeswoman for EH Bildu has described “good news” that the right has not been able to influence budgets and government policy in general.

Asked about governance after the 2023 municipal and regional elections, Bakartxo Ruiz argued in favor of consolidating the majority of the left in Navarra. In this sense, he foresees that EH Bildu will remain decisive: “It is not possible to form an alternative to the right without the participation of EH Bildu”.

In addition to the budget agreement, EH Bildu and the government of Navarra reached measures in the areas of: tax: with an income of less than 18,000 euros, 540 euros will be deducted, with an income of less than 14,500 euros per year no income tax return has to be filed and for taxpayers above three million euros capital income of more than 200,000 euros will increase and the wealth tax will be applied to them. There are currently no changes to corporate income tax. In Bakartxo Ruiz’s opinion “although far from what we wanted, they are small steps in the right direction.” In any case, he stressed that the debate on taxes will continue in the coming months and years.
