Chagall below – Oligarch collected art on seized yacht

Date:

Probably the most expensive yacht in the world called “Dilbar” is very impressive for its size and equipment. But the art treasures hoarded in the floating luxury temple are remarkable: Researchers found 30 paintings by important artists in wooden boxes, including a work by the Franco-Russian painter Marc Chagall.

The “Dilbar” is currently held in Bremen and assigned to the oligarch Alisher Usmanov. It should be overhauled in Germany. After Western sanctions were imposed on the billionaire, the largest yacht in the world was eventually seized. Usmanov denies ownership of the luxury ship, which is reportedly worth $600 million.

Art treasures are said to be worth five million dollars
Looking for evidence that the “Dilbar” belongs to him, police officers eventually stumbled upon the art collection. The oligarch does not want to own these either – otherwise the rich Russian would have had to declare the paintings to the German authorities. The total value of the works of art is estimated at five million euros.

Oligarch suspected of money laundering
The yacht was already searched by 60 agents in September. They were joined by Marines to better locate possible hiding places on the ship. Usmanow is suspected of money laundering – the public prosecutor’s office in Frankfurt and Munich is investigating. He is said to have tried to hide the origin of funds between 2017 and 2022.

According to the researchers, the money should come from tax evasion and other crimes. It involves a multi-digit amount in a million. To this end, the oligarch has built a complex network of companies, most of which operate in offshore states.
