Two young Iranian women were arrested because they danced on a Persian rap number at the martyr cemetery in Tehran. As the police said, the two ‘inappropriate dressed’ women recorded their dance performance on their mobile phones and placed them on social networks. Shortly thereafter, according to the police, they were identified, arrested and brought to court.
According to the police, the incident took place a few days ago and led to violent protests from families of those buried there. The martyr cemetery in the capital Tehran, where mainly the dead in the war between Iran and Iraq (1980-88) are buried, is considered one of the holiest institutions in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Triple breakthrough of taboos in the ultra -conservative Iran
With their action, the two women had broken different taboos of the Islamic ruling system. They appeared in public without the mandatory headscarf, danced on the cemetery next to the graves of the war victims and placed the video on social media, which is forbidden in the country. You now risk a prison sentence.
The motive of the two is still unclear, but observers assume that it was a protest against the Islamic system. Since the women’s movement of 2022, many women in the big cities ignore more and more rules such as the strict Islamic clothing regulations. The Iranian parliament wants to take action against the new Golf with new laws, but these threats have had no effect so far.
