Black weekend for the community of Feldkirchen an der Donau (Upper Austria): two residents of the community died in tragic accidents. In Linz, a 34-year-old woman fell to her death, just hours before an 82-year-old died in a work accident.
Feldkirchen an der Donau is in mourning: after a night of partying in Linz, a citizen of the community in the Urfahr-Raum district fell three meters to his death over a railing. The 34-year-old is said to have celebrated in a bar in the Passage and left the building via a side exit around three o’clock.
Lost balance
Witnesses saw the man then do a risky gymnastics exercise on a railing, lose his balance and fall headfirst. The 34-year-old suffered serious head injuries in the collision, and passers-by immediately came to his aid and set the rescue chain in motion. But even the emergency doctor could not save him and he died a short time later in the accident hospital (UKH).
“I wanted to start a family”
Mayor David Allerstorfer is affected: “I knew him well, he was a friend of mine – a very friendly, helpful man who lived intensively.” The deceased lived with his partner in Feldkirchen. The couple is said to be planning to get married soon. It is unclear with whom the 34-year-old was traveling in Linz.
His girlfriend was at home and was said to have been informed about the accident by telephone through an acquaintance. By the time she arrived at UKH, it was already too late. “The deceased had a close circle of friends who met often. We mourn the loss of a dear animal lover, my condolences go out to the family,” said local boss Allerstorfer.
Accident on the farm
Almost twelve hours before the accident in Linz, the sirens had already sounded in Feldkirchen. The fire brigade, rescue service and emergency doctor rushed to a farm in the Lacken district. As reported, a 52-year-old farmer has overturned his Hoftrac. The vehicle buried his 82-year-old mother. The elderly farmer was flown to a hospital by helicopter, but she also died from her serious injuries.
