Never pay a deposit! The director of the bankrupt company Scalahaus gave this advice to all home builders in an interview. Was that really serious? Anyway, a couple from Bürmoos transferred 51,000 euros to the Eugendorf-based company – they only got their building plans back…
“We preach day and night that you should never make a down payment when buying a house.” Apparently this was not the case for his own company.
As reported, Scalahaus has been bankrupt since last week. A debt of 13.1 million euros has been built up. Last year the balance sheet showed a loss of more than eight million euros. All this did not stop the prefab in-house supplier from making demands on its customers until the very end.
Mario Reiter and Daniela Moßhammer from Bürmoos have so far transferred 51,000 euros to the company Flachgau. So far they have not received anything other than the sampling and submission plans. “A week before the bankruptcy, Scalahaus canceled and assured us that everything was in order. One cheek,” Moßhammer says desperately. And: “We will never see our money again.”
Right now, nearly 60 Scalahaus customers are trembling in front of their homes. The company emphasizes that partner companies will complete all outstanding construction projects. Huge additional costs await home builders. “In times like these, it’s absolutely devastating,” Moßhammer says.
