Only a few Carinthians were able to observe the spectacular cars in the night sky. Tuesday evening around 10 p.m. the large shooting star could be seen for a few seconds!
Neither a UFO nor an asteroid was the bright phenomenon that caused amazement Tuesday night. It was a bolide: cosmic dust burned and could be seen in the sky as a falling star-like object. Expert Kurt Anetzhuber of the Carinthian Astronomical Association explains: “Normally, this cosmic dust burns way too far from Earth to be seen. But sometimes it gets close enough and you see the glowing process like a glowing tail!”
You could only admire the rare spectacle for a few seconds, unlike shooting stars you cannot predict a car. Those who had looked at the sky at the right time were lucky.
