Saturday morning around 02:00 a window of the RosaLila Panthers association in Graz was smashed. The association is committed to the rights of homosexuals and the LGBTQ community. Chairman Joe Niedermayer pinpoints a “hate crime”.
In a video on the Instagram platform, Joe Niedermayer provides information about the damage to the club grounds. “For the second time in a short time, the window behind me was violently smashed,” explains Niedermayer.
Fortunately there were no injuries. At 2 a.m. on Saturday, the police assessed the damage, says Niedermayer. “But a few hours earlier, at 9 p.m., participants from our youth group left a meeting here.”
Niedermayer doesn’t assume the crime can be solved – but if someone saw something, he asks for information.
Not the first attack on club
It is not the first time that the window of the club building in Annenstrasse in Graz has been damaged. The display case was already damaged in 2020.
This act could finally be linked to the perpetrator who smeared the Graz synagogue on Grieskai and physically attacked Elie Rosen, chairman of the Jewish Community, days later.
