An equally unusual and dramatic incident occurred on Saturday afternoon in Rankweil (Vorarlberg): a wild calf attacked a farmer and seriously injured him. The man ended up in the hospital, the animal was killed by a Cobra agent.
It all started when the farmer wanted to load the calf into a trailer. But this one had something completely different in mind and took off. It could finally be “placed” in an underground car park in Rankweil. Because the animal absolutely did not want to relax, a vet was called to anesthetize it.
But again the calf fled. However, it collided directly with the animal car that had blocked access to the underground car park. Arriving at the home farm, the “mad cow disease” continued…
Cobra shooter kills calf
Hardly unloaded, the animal got up again and ran off, running not only over two fences, but also the farmer, who was seriously injured. To prevent worse and not to jeopardize the care of the injured by the emergency doctor who had meanwhile rushed to the scene, the Cobra task force finally intervened: a specially trained officer killed the calf.
The farmer was then taken by the emergency services to the Feldkirch state hospital.
