At least six people died and 81 were injured as a result of a powerful explosion of unknown origin that took place this Sunday on busy Istiklal Avenue in Turkey’s capital, Istanbulaccording to the latest balance sheet of the country’s president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who suspicion of a “terrorist attack”although there is still no official verification.
“Unfortunately, the death toll has risen to 6 and the number injured to 81 in the blast that took place today in IstiklalErdogan declared in his first appearance after the explosion.
In it, the president expressed his suspicions about the nature of the explosion, which took place at around 4:20 p.m. this afternoon.

Meanwhile a court in Istanbul has already declared an “information blackout”.according to the anti-terrorism protocol in Turkey, while the Istanbul Public Prosecutor’s Office has already announced the start of an investigation.
Firefighters, police and medical teams have already traveled to the area, according to emergency sources confirmed to the Bursa Haberdar portal, cordoned off by security forces to facilitate care for the victims.
Istiklal Avenue or Independence Avenueis one of the busiest streets in the city and is home to numerous businesses.
