Swipe to US – Wagner founder denies involvement in execution

Date:

The horror images of the brutal execution of a suspected deserter in Ukraine have recently caused horror. The founder of the so-called Wagner group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, who initially joked about it, went to the defense on Tuesday – his soldiers had “excellent discipline” and would strictly adhere to international standards, the Kremlin confidant said.

Instead, Prigozhin blamed the US Secret Service for the violence. U.S. intelligence “kidnaps people all over the world, including Russian citizens,” Wagner’s founder explained, urging Russian prosecutors to launch an investigation.

Words of praise for horror video
On Sunday, Prigozhin praised a video showing the alleged deserter being brutally murdered with a hammer. The excitingly crafted video was a “great achievement,” said Prigozhin, adding, “I hope no animals were hurt in the shooting.”

The video appeared in channels related to the Wagner Group in online networks. According to the Russian organization Gulagu.net, which works for prisoners, the victim is ex-convict Yevgeny Nushin, who was recruited in a penal colony to fight in Ukraine. There he had surrendered to the Ukrainian army, but was then recaptured by Russia.

Reputation precedes brutal soldiers
Mercenaries from the Wagner paramilitary group have been deployed in many conflict areas for years, especially in Syria and African countries. Kremlin confidant Prigozhin only publicly admitted in September that he founded the long-secret group. In October, it opened an official headquarters in St. Petersburg.

According to the Russian newspaper Novaya Gazeta, Wagner mercenaries had already killed a prisoner in Syria in 2017 with a hammer, then dismembered and burned it.
