Out for arrears? – Bristane’s ruling against parking fines

Date:

Nobody likes to get bad letters from a lawyer. Especially if a few hundred euros are demanded – for example, for alleged infringement of private property, “extra parking fines” from abroad or the use of Google fonts on the homepage. But now, after a new verdict, that could be the end.

This message came dear to many Austrians after a holiday in Croatia. The ÖAMTC has also complained about the procedure: a Carinthian lawyer works with Croatian tourism strongholds and uses serial letters to collect expensive “parking fees” for them. The day ticket that was then requested – with and without a sea view – suddenly no longer costs 24.29 euros, but an impressive 197.09 euros. Is that possible?
