Specialists from Ukraine want to investigate the crash site
According to information from Warsaw, Poland and Ukraine are currently discussing the creation of an international research group. This is one of two ways to involve Ukrainian specialists in the investigation of the crash site, Jacek Siewiera, head of the Polish President’s Office for National Security, told TVN24.
Ukraine was informed in a letter on Wednesday that the Polish side would allow representatives of the Ukrainian government to be present at the site of the impact, Siewiera said Thursday evening. Either Ukraine can submit an international request for mutual legal assistance, or the Prosecutor General of Poland can set up an international investigation team. “Currently, the Ukrainian side has not applied for legal assistance; Talks are ongoing through an international group – possibly already completed,” said the security adviser.
Tractor driver and warehouse clerk killed
A rocket came down on Tuesday in the small village of Przewodow, just six kilometers from the Ukrainian border. The explosion in a granary killed a 60-year-old tractor driver and a 62-year-old warehouse clerk. According to reports from local Polish media, the tractor driver was said to have driven a load of corn onto the scales of the storage facility at the time of the collision. The 62-year-old was therefore next to it.
The two men are the first civilians in NATO country Poland to die as a result of Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine. They should be given a state funeral. The two separate funerals will take place this Saturday and Sunday, the parish priest in Przewodow told the PAP news agency on Friday.
The anti-aircraft missile would come from Ukraine
Currently, the West assumes it was a Ukrainian anti-aircraft missile used to defend against Russian military attacks. Immediately after the explosion in the NATO country, the media also spoke of a Russian missile. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has so far maintained that it was a Russian missile, but added that he is not 100% sure what happened.
