There was great concern on Friday evening about a hiker (31) in the Tyrolean Karwendel Mountains. After the mountaineer failed to arrive at a shelter in the evening as announced, a search was launched. The German was finally found around midnight at 2,000 meters above sea level.
Shortly before 9:30 p.m., the alarm was raised with the police. It was stated that, contrary to his announcement, a hiker did not arrive at the Karwendelhaus in the municipality of Scharnitz (Innsbruck-Land district).
“Further investigation eventually revealed that the alpinist had been taken by the mountain in the morning Pleisenhütte started over the Pleisenspitze along the so-called Toni-Gaugg-Steig to the Karwendelhaus,” says the Alpine Police.
An accident – search was feared
Because the hiker did not appear at the mountain hut that evening and an accident was feared, the Scharnitz mountain rescue service started a search. Around midnight there was a deep sigh of relief: the 31-year-old German was found unharmed in the Marxenkar area at about 2000 meters above sea level.
“Physically weak and completely exhausted“
But why was the walker there in the middle of the night? “He was physically weak and completely exhausted,” police said when asked by “Krone.” The German was eventually accompanied by the mountain rescuers to the Karwendelhaus.
