After cases of abuse – “Don’t put us men under general suspicion!”

Date:

As a kindergarten teacher, Michael Kammerer was often the only man – both at school and at work. How does that feel? And how do the known cases of abuse affect his job?

A class full of girls – with one exception: Michael Kammerer was the only boy who went to school in what was then “Bakip” (today: Bafep) in Salzburg. That was almost 20 years ago, and yet the man from Graz often finds himself in similar situations today. He is one of only 2046 kindergarten teachers in Austria. “I wanted to do something with people. I am sociable and sociable and I like to be creative,” the 38-year-old explains his career choice. “I grew up with a lot of kids in my settlement.”
